In Conclusion
Identity is an inseparable part of one's life. Its formation is never final, it is part of a life process. Agree with it or disagree, like or dislike it, there is no denying one's identity. Understanding and coming to terms with one's own identity is a lifelong process. I can compare this process to being like two dance partners in the waltz – pivoting around each other. This is not always a success, as demonstrated by Almasy's and Katharine's tragic story, crystallized by their "Bosphorus hug" dance. As Kip learned, identity cannot be chosen but develops through life experience.
There is no winner and no loser in this struggle between submission and rebellion that takes place within every person. Rather, it is an endless process of identifying, resolving and coming to terms with the tensions inherent in one’s identity.
